Monforts international
Innovation leader for
textile finishing machines
Our claim as “leader in innovation” is both an incentive and an obligation: it is the standard against which our customers measure us. We work with leading experts and partner companies worldwide to create the optimum combination of technology, process engineering and service for every investment.
CHTC Fong’s Group
Founded in 1963, CHTC Fong’s International Co. Ltd. has specialised in textile finishing machine engineering and stainless steel casting. Fong’s was one of the first companies in Hong Kong to enter the Chinese market for textile finishing – a milestone that had a crucial influence on the further development and international growth of the company.
Monforts Fong’s
The close cooperation between Monforts and Fong’s began with a joint venture established in 1999. This led to the creation of the innovative “textile machine factory of the future” in Zhongshan in 2012. Today, the joint venture is regarded as one of the most successful cooperation models in the industry.
Fong’s Europe
A Chinese name with German roots: the company’s headquarters in Schwäbisch Hall in the south of Germany stand for active globalisation and successful partnership. Traditional European brands such as Goller, Then and Xorella are united under the umbrella of the Asian textile machinery pioneer.
Milestones in our success story
Monforts company history –
from 1884 until today
2024
Cooperation with BW Converting and Archroma in the field of spray application. Integration of a spray unit into a stenter in the TechCenter (ATC) for carrying out fabric tests and further development.
2023
Start of the government-funded WasserSTOFF project together with associated partners.
2019
Cooperation with KMA in the field of exhaust air cleaning and heat recovery, as well as development of a modular system that is integrated into the stenter to save space.
2015
Monforts acquires the coating expertise of Timatec (Austria) and takes part in the ITMA in Milan for the first time as part of the CHTC Fong’s Group. With this expansion of the product portfolio, Monforts can now offer an even broader range of finishing options for technical textiles.
2013
A. Monforts Textilmaschinen becomes a member of the CHTC Fong’s Group, one of the world’s largest textile machinery manufacturers. A new technology centre is built at the Monforts headquarters in Mönchengladbach.
2011
For over 125 years the name Monforts has been synonymous with cutting-edge technology in textile finishing machinery – as evidenced by numerous patents, the trust of our customers and an excellent market reputation. In order to further strengthen this leading position and develop new technological solutions, the company moves to its new site in Mönchengladbach in 2011.
2006
The long-established Possehl Foundation from Lübeck takes over all the company shares in A. Monforts Textilmaschinen..
1999
Establishment of a joint venture in China with the Hong Kong-based company Fong’s under the name Monforts Fong’s.
1994
Together with what is today DyStar Colours Distribution GmbH (Germany), Monforts develops the revolutionary Econtrol continuous dyeing process that rapidly establishes itself on the global market.
1986
Between 1986 and 2006, Clemens A. Monforts von Hobe as owner is head of the Monforts group, and in particular guides A. Monforts Textilmaschinen to its position of world market leader in its market segment.
1950
Construction of the first stenter – the “father of all stenters”. In the following years, this is continuously developed with the incorporation of numerous patented innovations, underlining Monforts’ global pioneering role.
1926
After the death of August Monforts, his son Joseph Monforts takes over the management of the company. Under his leadership, the machine tool division is further expanded and internationalisation in the field of textile machines is advanced. In the third generation, the nephews of Joseph Monforts, Dietrich Monforts von Hobe († 1941) and Caspar Monforts von Hobe (1915 – 2001) guide the fortunes of the company.
1916
Because the original company premises are no longer sufficient, Monforts builds a new factory with state-of-the-art machinery. From 1920 onwards, the manufacture of semi-automatic machine tools is added to the existing product range.
1912
In recognition of his economic achievements, August Monforts is awarded the title of “Kommerzienrat” (commercial counsellor).
1897
August Monforts establishes an iron foundry equipped with hydraulic moulding machines. This significantly increases the efficiency of the machine factory by enabling it to produce its own cast machine components.
1891
After the first order for a”napping machine for textile fabrics with five rollers”, Monforts developed the first 24-roller napping machine in 1891 which led to a significant improvement in the napping process. Only nine years after its founding, Monforts receives the highest accolades at the World Fair in Chicago for the models exhibited there.
1884
Founding of the machine engineering company by August Monforts (born on 18 September 1850 in Gerderath on the Lower Rhine). In the year of its founding, the company already has 52 employees at its size on Kronprinzenstraße in Mönchengladbach.
